What a night!!
It was a decent night I'd say, I walked out with 50$ for about 4 hours of work...so that's good. I had a CRAZY table to start off with though!!
It was a family of 7 Indians (dot, not feather) 4 guys, 2 women, and then a girl about 7-9ish. Really nice, very pleasant. Got a bunch of 23oz drafts of miller lite. 7 total between the men & one of the women.
I've dropped the check, they're getting ready to leave the woman knocked over the glass and it shatters. They've left all of their drinks there, I've managed to get about 4 of them but they wouldn't give me the rest - they kept saying 'Oh, it's okay, we're fine' when I asked politely 'Can I get some of this out of your way?' or even 'Here, let me take this."
Her husband says something to her, she starts to BAWL. I try to take the broken glass but he waves me off again.
I go to the back and throw some trash away from a table and when I come back out I hear another shattering glass, both the managers out front start to yell and I look back - husband's got the wife by the arm dragging her out of the restaurant. My manager Kirk told me she picked up another glass and slammed it down on the table meaning to break it - so I guess husband said something hardcore.
They left me 10$ and Kirk said 'Good, they better have tipped!' and Nikkell, another server wanted to talk shit about 'This would have been avoided if someone had prebussed her table'. Kirk stood up for me though and said I'd tried several times, which I did.
Last table was two women that I sat and talked with for awhile, helped them pick out some different flavors to try. Left me 8$ on a tab of 26$.
My manager Jen made fun of me because I put the $ sign after the amount...and we had a discussion about why things are written the way they are. I right '20$' instead of '$20' because you say 'Hey, can I borrow twenty dollars?' not 'Hey, can I borrow dollars twenty?' we had a laugh about that because she'd never thought of it that way and it made perfect sense.
Melissa also got the official boot, so I'm fucking excited about that! I think most folks know, but we're being quiet about it still...but those of us that DO know fo'sho are holding pre-shift glee dances in honor of the event :D
Tomorrow is also our potluck for work. I made a peach cobbler and sweet potatoes...I think I'm going to retire to bed now though. After work I'm clearing Roxanne out, we'll yank the speakers and sell her as a parts / rebuild car...her engine still sounds great, it's just frame work and the radiator will most likely have to be replaced because it does spew when you turn her off. There might be other leaks but we're not 100% sure what it is. I'm probably going to cry when it happens.
