I think a little mixing is normal; the characters RPers make are, in part, extensions of themselves and their emotions.
Extreme mixing though is a little... overboard (and moreso what I was speaking about above). But it's also a trap people can get into; a large chunk of RPers get into this trap, IMO. I admit I did, with bad side effects afterward. Now, while I still have that connection to a character - I just finished an RP idea where my character broke up with another and it was seriously stressful for both, and in reaction, I did cry - I am also able to let it go and be "me" later, which was not something I could do before for various reasons.
You're right; it's not a bad thing per say, only if it starts to become an extension into your RL.
